This has been a week of multiple media releases.
First a vodcast was
released followed by a podcast.
With the aid of a tweet from Jason Calcanis, downloads of the
podcast are at higher levels than normal.
Preparing for tests has also been on the agenda. Backing up
approximately sixty gigabytes of multimedia containers off the
Ubuntu test system took most of the day Wednesday. With the release
of openSUSE 11.1 at approximately 1400 UTC Thursday a bit of early
rising was required. With the aid of aria2 the GNOME LiveCD and the
installation DVD were downloaded. The downloads were triggered at
roughly 0605 PST (1405 UTC).
As of this point testing has been underway on the testbed with
openSUSE 11.1 using GNOME. The installation from the DVD went well.
As for the LiveCD, we had less than the recommended amount of RAM
to proceed that way. A LiveCD install requires one gigabyte of RAM.
With only 384 megabytes of RAM we were forced to go with the DVD.
It can be initially said that the DVD installation process was far
more painless than an install of any recent version of
Windows.
We don't have the run-down for LISTen finalized yet. Things
remain subject to change.
